IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft provides equity financing to innovative Berlin-based companies. The firm is the regional market leader in venture capital in Berlin. IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft was founded in 1997 as a fully owned subsidiary of Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB).
The funds provided are to be used for the development and launch of innovative products and services or creative business concepts. IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft manages the „VC Fonds Technologie Berlin” fund (€ 52m) and the „VC Fonds Kreativwirtschaft Berlin” fund (€ 30m). Both funds were started as joint initiatives of IBB and the State of Berlin. They are co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Set up in 2008, VC Fonds Kreativwirtschaft Berlin is the first german venture capital fund solely aimed at companies from the creative industries. The track record of IBB Beteiligungsgesellschaft includes successful IPOs and a large number of trade sales to strategic partners.
Creathor Venture
Creathor Venture invests in technology-oriented companies and entrepreneurs in the areas of life science, IT, telecommunication, new media, new materials, electronics, nanotechnology and clean tech.
Creathor Venture’s management team includes Dr. Gert Köhler, the founder of the former Technologieholding VC GmbH, as well as Ingo Franz and Karlheinz Schmelig. The team has been working in early-stage venture capital for 20 years.
During that time more than 200 technology companies have been financed and over 20 IPOs as well as numerous trade sales have been conducted. Successful portfolio companies in the field of life sciences are Accovion, SiRION Biotech, Caprotec Bioanalytics, Phenex Pharmaceuticals and CEVEC Pharmaceuticals.
Dr. Giuseppe Vita
Dr. Giuseppe Vita was born on April 28th, 1935 in Favara, Sicily. He later studied medicine and subsequently received his certification as a radiologist. Dr. Vita worked in clinical research at Schering AG in Berlin and was appointed head of Schering?s Italian subsidiary in 1965.
- 1987 Dr. Vita became Member of the Management Board of Schering AG.
- 1989 Dr. Vita became Chairman of the Management Board.
- 2001 Dr. Vita took over as Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
- 2002 Dr. Vita became Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Axel Springer AG.
- 2006 Dr. Vita became Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Deutz AG.
In Germany, Dr. Vita held, over many years, several Board of Director seats. In Italy, he is, among other positions, head of Allianz SpAItaly Board of Directors.
